President - Edward Criado
Edward Criado began his career in law enforcement with the Benicia Police Department in 2008 after working as a middle school and high school teacher. Edward has worked in Patrol as an Officer and Corporal and in the Investigations Division as the Youth Services Detective. He is currently a Sergeant assigned to patrol working the street of Benicia and helping keep the community safe. Edward has been an active member of the Police Officers Association and has served as the Secretary / Treasurer and currently serves as the President.

Secretary / Treasurer - Mark Simonson
Mark Simonson has been with the Benicia Police Department since 1996. Mark has held the position of Field Training Officer (FTO), K9 handler with his partner Jazz, and Motor Officer in the Traffic Division. Mark currently serves on the BPOA board as the Secretary / Treasurer. Mark is also a board member for the City of Benicia Police Officers Association PAC.

Board Member - Kirk Keffer
Kirk Keffer began his career in law enforcement in 2006 as a Custody Deputy with the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office. While with the sheriff’s department he held the position of FTO and was chosen as a Defensive Tactics Instructor. In 2008 he was hired by the Benicia Police Department where he was assigned to patrol as an officer. Within two years he was promoted to the position of Field Training Officer. He is currently assigned as a Patrol K9 Handler with his K9 partner “Bak”. Corporal Keffer is one of our Defensive Tactics Instructor and is a Peer Counselor on the departments Peer Support Team. In 2015 he was promoted to the position of Corporal which he serves in the patrol division. He has been an active member of BPOA for several years and currently serves as a board member.
