Our History

The Benicia Police Officer's Association (BPOA) is the recognized bargaining unit between all Benicia Police Officers and the City of Benicia. The BPOA is a non-profit organization that represents the sworn police officers and sergeants of the Benicia Police Department. The BPOA is dedicated to improving the working conditions of its members as well as being actively involved in the community we serve. The BPOA hopes you find our website informative and return often for news and updates.

The Benicia Police Officer’s Association was incorporated on July 11th, 1953. Officers Romeo Lavezzo, George Little, and Daniel Pitta founded the association originally called the Benicia Police Benefit Association.

We have proudly served the community of Benicia for the last 63 years. We are committed to not only the safety of our citizens and business but to providing charitable contributions to those in our community who need our help the most. For more information about the work we do in our communities please visit our Charities Page.

To help us better serve you and our community we share, please feel free to join our mission by participating in any of our events.

Thank you for your support and contributions,

Sincerely,
